Liz Newstead

Mindfulness Teacher & Leadership Team Member

I retired from the NHS as a mental health nurse in 2022 where I had a varied career for over 35 years including being a Rural Mental Health Nurse Consultant, a Community Psychiatric Nurse (CPN) and mental health Nurse Lecturer. Remaining passionate about improving mental health and wellbeing, following retirement I set up my own freelance business aimed at delivering mindfulness courses and mental health education training. I have practiced mindfulness for over 20years, initially to manage my own job related stress, however I noticed that the more I practiced the happier and more contented I became. In a desire to share the skills of mindfulness to others I trained to teach mindfulness via the NHS National Education for Scotland (NES) pathway where I was certified to deliver Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). In addition, I followed the Mindfulness Association teacher training pathway which adds Mindfulness Based Living Course (MBLC) to the courses I can competently deliver. Both of these organisations adhere to UK standards of training and education for those of us who teach mindfulness.

All my courses and classes are delivered within an atmosphere of kindness and compassion towards self and others as this way of being lies at the heart of mindfulness.
